As an integral part of a strong export team the successful candidate will work closely with the local export team, reporting to our export team manager in Dublin.

Role Overview

The Export Booking Clerk is responsible for managing export shipment bookings from initial request through to confirmation, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with company and carrier requirements. The role requires strong attention to detail, customer service skills, and the ability to coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process and manage export booking requests from customers and other MSC Agencies
  • Liaise with operations and logistics department to ensure we have vessel space and equipment to cover bookings.
  • Ensure all booking details are accurate, including cargo type, weights, dimensions, and routing.
  • Input and maintain booking data in internal MSC systems
  • Provide booking confirmations and updates to customers in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate with documentation teams to ensure smooth shipment processing.
  • Ensure compliance with international shipping regulations and company procedures.
  • Handle customer queries and resolve booking-related issues efficiently.
  • Co-ordinate with our intermodal department where we are requested to arrange trucking by clients

Key Requirements and competencies

  • Previous experience in shipping, logistics, or freight forwarding (export operations preferred).
  • Strong understanding of export processes and container shipping procedures.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple bookings simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Customer-focused with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Familiarity with Incoterms and international trade practices.

  • Excellent Communication skills
  • Previous experience with IMDG cargo preferable
