Job Summary
- Coordinate daily dispatch schedules for freight vehicles using transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management or similar software.
- Monitor GPS and GIS data to track vehicle locations, optimize routes, and ensure compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations.
- Manage multi-line phone systems to communicate with drivers, clients, and internal departments effectively while maintaining professional phone etiquette.
- Oversee shipping & receiving operations, ensuring accurate data entry into logistics databases and maintaining detailed records of freight movements.
- Collaborate with supply chain teams to plan transportation routes, analyze operational data, and improve overall road transportation efficiency.
- Maintain internal communication channels for real-time updates on vehicle status, delays, or issues requiring immediate attention.
- Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and safety standards during all dispatching activities while managing fleet management tasks.
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing client inquiries promptly and professionally via phone or email.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a truck dispatcher or in a similar role within transportation planning or logistics management.
- Strong knowledge of transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management or equivalent platforms.
- Familiarity with GPS technology, GIS mapping tools, and route optimization techniques.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy in data entry.
- Effective communication skills for managing phone calls, internal communication, and customer interactions with professionalism and clarity.
- Knowledge of road transportation operations, freight handling procedures, and 3PL (third-party logistics) services.
- Ability to interpret analysis data related to fleet management and logistics performance metrics.
- Understanding of DOT regulations governing vehicle operation and safety standards on the road.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and vehicle dispatch software applications.
