Australian-owned, international RoRo, OOG & machinery logistics specialist, FREIGHTPLUS, is seeking an experienced international freight forwarder, to manage the day-to-day freight forwarding operations of our established Japan business and small Kobe-based team.
The new position of Line Operations Manager – Japan is not simply a file-processing role. It is an opportunity for a junior manager to accelerate their career, or for a customer-focused operator or supervisor with a can-do attitude to step up into a management role, to help grow the Japanese business of a respected, international OOG, project cargo and machinery logistics specialist, with direct access to senior leadership, genuine authority to improve operations and the ability to shape the future of the Japan business. It’s a role offering excellent career prospects, with potential for the right candidate to progress to the top tier of management within the next 5 years.
Freightplus is an Australian-owned international logistics company specialising in RoRo, OOG, heavy-lift, project cargo and used machinery. Our Japan entity an existing customer base and strong links to Freightplus offices across Australia, the USA, Canada, Thailand and China.
The successful candidate will lead a small team coordinating daily freight operations (mostly OOG export sea freight), manage customer files and staff workflow, strengthen carrier relationships and implement Freightplus’ global operating model in Japan.

Key Responsibilities
· Manage day-to-day international freight-forwarding operations.
· Supervise and train Kobe operational, part-time and temporary team.
· Full process management – quoting, booking, delivery, invoicing, profit share and closure.
· Allocate resources and team members to satisfy job and customer requirements
· Maintain complete and accurate CargoWise files and eDocs.
· Use CargoWise and company software to manage and report waitlisted, confirmed and
upcoming shipments.
· Maintain carrier-mandated waitlist sheets while eliminating unnecessary duplicate systems.
· Manage booking requests, carrier follow-up, documentation, port delivery and supplier coordination.
· Monitor profitability across job file, customer and branch profit reports.
· Ensure accurate and timely invoicing and accurate profit-share completion.
· Develop and maintain relationships with RoRo, OOG, heavy-lift and project carriers.
· Support customer development and the growth of Freightplus-controlled cargo.
· Identify and mitigate operational, commercial, legal, health and safety, and customer risks.
· Support ISO-aligned process documentation, implementation and continuous improvement.
· Advise senior executives on workload, service, profitability, billing and outstanding actions.
Ideal Candidate
· Minimum 3 years of international sea freight experience;
· Good knowledge of freight-forwarding fundamentals,
· Some experience in RoRo, OOG, project cargo, heavy lift or machinery logistics.
· Can-Do attitude!
· Written and spoken business-proficiency in both Japanese and English.
· Comfortable discussing commercial terms with customers and suppliers.
· Capable of working independently and autonomously.
· Customer-focused, organised and capable of handling every step from door to door.
· Strong people skills for managing people, priorities and change in a small-team environment.
· Willing to work primarily from a Kobe office, with structured flexibility by agreement.
· Available for some domestic and international travel if required.
