Duties
- Safely operate dump trucks, tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and refrigerated trailers to transport materials over long-distance routes or within job sites
- Load and unload freight with manual handling techniques while adhering to safety protocols and cargo handling regulations
- Navigate using GPS systems to ensure timely deliveries and efficient route planning across over-the-road (OTR) driving routes
- Comply with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration), DOT (Department of Transportation), hazardous materials regulations, and hazardous goods handling standards during all operations
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo details, and delivery documentation in accordance with DOT regulations
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after trips to ensure truck safety and compliance with maintenance schedules
- Load, secure, and unload various types of freight including freight requiring refrigerated transport or specialized equipment like flatbeds or tanker trucks
Requirements
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for tractor-trailers, hazardous materials (Hazmat), or refrigerated trailers preferred
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, delivery driving, or freight transportation with a focus on route driving and manual transmission operation
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, hazardous materials regulations, DOT compliance standards, and safety procedures for manual handling and truck loading/unloading
- Familiarity with GPS navigation systems for route planning and real-time navigation adjustments
- Ability to handle dangerous goods safely when transporting hazardous or sensitive cargo
- Strong understanding of logistics cargo handling procedures for various types of freight including flatbed loads or tanker shipments
- Excellent driving record demonstrating safe operation over the road (OTR) routes and adherence to all traffic laws
- Physical ability to manually load/unload cargo as needed and perform routine vehicle inspections
