Job Description
Responsible for managing 30-35 company drivers. The Driver Manager (DM) is a key leadership role overseeing daily operations of the driver fleet. The DM is accountable for drivers performance in service, safety, utilization, and retention, focusing on maintaining positive employee relationships. The DM conducts regular performance reviews and implements corrective actions when needed. Proficiency in Transportation Management Systems is required to ensure timely and accurate data management.
Essential Job Functions
Manage driver performance through expectations, reviews, and corrective actions, including termination if necessary.
Ensure safety and regulatory compliance, including FMCSA regulations, and implement corrective actions for drivers below goals.
Resolve driver issues and manage driver retention.
Train and mentor drivers on tools and systems such as Omnitracs, document scanning, and payroll processes.
Track and manage driver schedules, including time off, holiday pay, and vacations.
Resolve payroll discrepancies and authorize additional pay when appropriate.
Manage driver utilization and collaborate with load planners to improve productivity.
Ensure drivers execute assigned work and comply with company policies and the Code of Conduct.
Foster a trustful, team-oriented environment supporting high performance.
Support load planning, including re-planning and load recovery.
Address driver issues promptly and ensure proper handoffs.
Monitor deliveries and pickups for service issues, proactively communicating potential failures.
Minimum Qualifications
Strong leadership skills.
Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with change management experience.
Self-motivated and proactive.
** $68,500 – $75,000/year base + bonus eligibility. This range is approximate and may vary based on skills, experience, location, and other factors.
