Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dispatcher to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring efficient transportation planning and fleet management. This position requires strong communication skills, excellent phone etiquette, and the ability to analyze data effectively to optimize shipping and receiving processes. The Dispatcher will be responsible for coordinating logistics and ensuring timely deliveries while utilizing various software tools.
Duties
Manage daily dispatch operations, including scheduling and routing of freight.
Communicate effectively with drivers, clients, and other stakeholders via phone and email.
Utilize GPS and GIS technology to monitor vehicle locations and optimize routes.
Analyze transportation data to improve efficiency in fleet management.
Coordinate shipping and receiving activities to ensure timely delivery of goods.
Maintain accurate records of shipments, deliveries, and fleet status using software such as SyteLine or Oracle Transportation Management.
Address any issues or delays in transportation promptly and effectively.
Requirements
Proven experience in transportation planning or dispatching is preferred.
Strong understanding of freight operations and logistics.
Excellent phone etiquette with strong verbal communication skills.
Familiarity with GPS and GIS systems for route optimization.
Proficient in using dispatch software such as SyteLine or Oracle Transportation Management.
Ability to analyze data for decision-making purposes.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
High school diploma or equivalent; additional qualifications in logistics or supply chain management are a plus.
