We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Truck Dispatcher to coordinate and manage freight for internal carriers. This role involves scheduling, route planning, carrier communication, and ensuring on-time delivery of shipments while optimizing cost and compliance. You will serve as the key link between our company, third-party trucking partners, and customers.
Key Responsibilities:
● Coordinate freight movements by assigning loads to carriers.
● Plan and optimize shipping routes based on delivery schedules and cost efficiency.
● Maintain daily communication with carriers to ensure timely pickups and deliveries.
● Monitor shipments in transit and proactively resolve delays or issues.
● Track and document carrier performance, safety records, and compliance.
● Negotiate freight rates with carriers and maintain cost-effective transport solutions.
● Ensure all documentation (BOLs, PODs, rate confirmations) are submitted for factoring accurately and timely.
● Use dispatch and logistics software to manage loads and maintain records.
● Communicate with internal teams to ensure alignment.
● Stay up-to-date with DOT regulations and industry best practices.
● Bring on new dispatching customers through a mix of warm and cold calls
Qualifications:
● High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Logistics or Supply Chain a plus).
● 1–3 years of experience in dispatching or Carrier sales.
● Strong understanding of trucking logistics, routes, and freight terminology.
● Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
● Proficient in logistics software and navigating loadboards.
● Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
● Knowledge of FMCSA and DOT compliance standards.
Work Environment:
