Position Summary:
The Driver Support Representative (DSR) at Cherokee Freight Lines serves as a central support role focused on ensuring real-time visibility of freight, responding to driver needs, monitoring performance, and identifying operational issues for resolution. Based at our Stockton, CA location, this role is essential to the day-to-day health of our transportation operations and the satisfaction of both our drivers and our customers.
Core Responsibilities
1. Track and Trace
Continuously monitor load status using GPS and Transportation Management Systems (TMS) to ensure on-time delivery and service accuracy.
Communicate real-time updates to internal teams, customer service, and external stakeholders.
Log key milestones including departures, arrivals, and delays; escalate exceptions as needed.
2. Direct Support of Driver Needs
Act as the primary contact for driver support during active shifts.
Troubleshoot issues such as route deviations, equipment concerns, HOS questions, and schedule conflicts.
Facilitate support services by coordinating with Maintenance, Dispatch, and Safety teams.
Promote a culture of responsiveness, safety, and professionalism in all driver interactions.
3. Driver Supervision
Assist in monitoring driver activity for compliance with schedules, safety protocols, and operational expectations.
Support driver scheduling, onboarding, check-ins, and general performance tracking.
Maintain a clear, open channel of communication with assigned drivers to ensure a high level of accountability and satisfaction.
4. Issue Logging and Corrective Action Intake
Collect and categorize incidents, complaints, and systemic challenges from drivers or operations.
Prepare reports on recurring issues that require escalation to management, Safety, or HR.
Participate in internal reviews to help identify root causes and propose corrective or preventive actions.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
1–2 years of experience in dispatch, transportation operations, or logistics support preferred.
Familiarity with DOT regulations and fleet tracking systems (e.g., Samsara, JJ Keller) is a plus.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond calmly under pressure.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods throughout the workday.
Manual dexterity to operate computers, phones, and office equipment.
Occasional walking, bending, or reaching within the office environment.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally (e.g., boxes of supplies or documents).
Visual and auditory ability to use phone systems and read computer screens.

Pay: $26.00 – $31.50 per hour
