Position Overview:
As the Dispatch Manager, you will coordinate and oversee the transportation of used vehicles from auction sites to designated loading warehouses. Your role will ensure that all vehicles are delivered on time and within budget while maintaining the highest levels of safety and efficiency. You will lead a team of dispatchers, drivers, and logistics personnel to ensure smooth operations in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage Daily Operations: Oversee the dispatching of drivers to pick up and deliver vehicles from auction houses to warehouses. Ensure that all deliveries are scheduled and completed on time.
Team Leadership: Lead, train, and support a team of dispatchers and drivers. Provide guidance and performance feedback to improve team efficiency and effectiveness.
Route Optimization: Plan and optimize vehicle routes to ensure timely delivery and minimize fuel consumption and costs.
Customer Communication: Serves as the primary point of contact for both clients and internal teams. Resolve any issues related to delays, route changes, or vehicle conditions.
Vehicle Tracking: Utilize GPS systems and dispatch software to monitor vehicle location and progress. Address any unforeseen delays or issues in real time.
Compliance & Safety: Ensure all deliveries are in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Monitor vehicle inspections, driver logs, and safety protocols to maintain safety standards.
Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all shipments, including driver schedules, vehicle statuses, and delivery confirmations. Provide regular performance reports to senior management.
Problem Resolution: Act quickly and effectively to address any disruptions in the transportation process, including accidents, vehicle breakdowns, or route changes.
Requirements:
Experience: 5+ years of experience in logistics, dispatch, or transportation management. Experience with vehicle transportation, especially moving cars from auctions, is a plus.
Leadership Skills: Proven ability to manage and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment.
Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with dispatch software, GPS systems, and other fleet management tools.
Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with clients, drivers, and other stakeholders.
Problem-Solving Skills: Strong ability to resolve issues on the fly and manage unforeseen challenges.
Attention to Detail: Ability to manage multiple deliveries simultaneously, ensuring no details are overlooked.
Flexibility: Ability to adapt to changing schedules, unexpected issues, and tight deadlines.
U.S. Knowledge & Citizenship (Preferred): Candidates with knowledge of the U.S. vehicle logistics market or U.S. operations or U.S. citizenship are strongly preferred. Familiarity with U.S. geography and regulations is a significant advantage.
Education: High School diploma or equivalent; a degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related fields is a plus.
