Director, Terminal Operations Jobs in Kearny, NJ at P2D
Description
As the Director, Terminal Operations, you will be responsible for managing the financial results of a large terminal, leading a team of terminal employees, and overseeing a tractor fleet. You’ll also monitor all site activity, including championing recruiting and retention initiatives, implementing safety procedures, and ensuring excellent customer service. As part of the team, you’ll have a starring role in helping us continue to provide excellent freight solutions to our global customers while building a career that will exceed your expectations.
What you’ll do:
Lead a team and coach them to a high level of performance, including working with contracted drivers as well as terminal staff
Manage the terminal P&L to ensure financial health
Review delivery schedules, making modifications as needed to ensure best-in-class customer service
Monitor procedures with an eye for safety and continuous improvement
Recommend best practices to improve operational excellence; encourage others to share their ideas for process improvement
Recruit and retain qualified drivers and employees to meet company objectives
Oversee all corporate safety and security requirements, including applicable state and federal laws; implement changes as needed to maintain compliance
Participate in the training and professional development of assigned team members; ensure staff attend required training courses such as hazmat, CPR/AED, etc.
Approve time and attendance requests for colleagues
What you’ll have:
7 years of transportation or terminal management experience
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Proficiency with Windows applications and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Proven experience leading and coaching a high-performing team
Experience delivering P & L responsibilities in the transportation industry
