Position Summary
We are seeking a highly analytical leader who combines strong operational leadership with exceptional data analysis skills. The ideal candidate enjoys working with large datasets, building Excel models, identifying trends and cost anomalies, and translating complex logistics data into actionable recommendations for executive management.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning
- Develop long and short-term logistics strategies to align with broader company goals and market demands.
- Serve as the company’s subject matter expert on freight, tariffs, and logistics analytics.
- Provide executive reporting and recommendations to senior leadership.
Logistics Analytics & Cost Management
- Own all logistics reporting and analytics, including ocean freight, parcel, warehousing, drayage, and distribution costs.
- Build and maintain Excel-based analytical models and dashboards to monitor freight spending, landed costs, tariffs, carrier performance, and cost per shipment.
- Audit and reconcile freight invoices, contracted carrier rates, tariff charges, rebates, and reimbursement programs to identify discrepancies, recover overcharges, and maximize cost recovery.
- Analyze ocean freight, drayage, customs duties, tariff costs, and domestic distribution expenses to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Investigate unexpected cost fluctuations and proactively identify the root cause rather than simply reporting variances.
- Present findings and recommendations to executive management using clear tables, charts, and financial analysis.
Operations Oversight
- Manage day-to-day ocean freight, inland distribution, and logistics operations.
- Ensure on-time delivery, service levels, and operational efficiency across the logistics network.
Budgeting & Cost Control
- Own logistics financial performance, including freight spend, landed cost, tariff expense, distribution cost, and annual cost reduction initiatives.
- Produce weekly and monthly executive dashboards summarizing logistics performance.
Vendor & Carrier Management
- Cultivate relationships, negotiate contracts, and manage service level agreements (SLAs) with 3PLs, freight carriers, and suppliers.
Technology Implementation
- Drive the adoption of advanced supply chain technologies such as TMS (Transportation Management Systems)
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure adherence to global/national shipping and safety regulations while building a supply chain resilient to disruptions.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: 7+ to 15+ years of progressive logistics experience, with at least 3-7 years in a director-level or senior management role.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to manage, motivate, and mentor cross-functional teams.
- Technical & Analytical Proficiency
- Expert-level Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, INDEX/MATCH, Power Query, and the ability to organize, analyze, and present large datasets.
- Demonstrated ability to transform raw operational data into meaningful reports, executive summaries, and actionable recommendations.
- Strong analytical and financial skills with experience identifying cost discrepancies, freight billing errors, and opportunities for process improvement.
- Experience analyzing transportation costs, landed costs, duty and tariff impacts, and carrier performance metrics.
- Experience using ERP systems (NetSuite preferred) and Transportation Management Systems (TMS).

Pay: $132,775.42 – $159,901.58 per year
