Director of Distribution and Warehousing Jobs in Greater Chicago Area at Korpack

Title: Director of Distribution and Warehousing

Company: Korpack

Location: Greater Chicago Area

For Those Who Want More Than Just a Job

Korpack is growing quickly, and we thrive on speed, innovation, and adaptability. This isn’t a job for someone seeking an easy ride — it’s for someone who takes pride in tackling challenges head-on and making a real impact. If you’re ready to roll up your sleeves and lead from the front, we want to hear from you.

About the Role

This is not a role for the faint-hearted. We’re not offering a cushy 9-to-5 where you can coast through the day. At Korpack, we’re looking for a driven leader who thrives on challenges, meets tight deadlines, and is committed to doing whatever it takes to keep product moving accurately, safely, and profitably.

Your mission: own everything that happens to product outside of production — receiving, storage, inter-site logistics, and outbound distribution across two facilities moving roughly 20 truckloads a day — while leading our WMS implementation and building our third-party warehousing (3PL) services into a real revenue line.

And understand this up front: you will not succeed here by being the smartest operator in the building. You will succeed by hiring, building, and relentlessly holding a high bar for the four to six managers below you. We are not hiring one great person — we are hiring the person who builds a great management team. If you have grit, a love for fast-paced supply chain and logistics operations, and a track record of surrounding yourself with people who get it done, this might be your perfect fit.

The Journey

  • WMS Implementation & Ownership: Lead our warehouse management system from implementation through go-live to optimization across both sites. This is the single most important deliverable of your first year — you will own it end to end.
  • Build the Management Team: Recruit, hire, and develop the four to six managers who run day-to-day operations — warehouse managers at both sites, shuttle, and outbound. Hold a relentlessly high bar: upgrade the seats that need upgrading, and never tolerate a manager who tolerates mediocrity below them. At the end of the day, you will be judged by the strength of this team, not by your personal output.
  • Distribution & Warehouse Operations: Direct all receiving, put-away, storage, order fulfillment, and shipping across our Bloomingdale and St. Charles facilities. Own dock-to-dock flow and hold your teams accountable for doing it right the first time.
  • Physical Inventory Truth: Own the physical count — cycle counts, tie-outs, and shrink. Your numbers must reconcile with what Manufacturing reports transacting. When they don’t, you chase it down.
  • Inter-Site Shuttle: Run the St. Charles ⇄ Bloomingdale shuttle so production never waits on material and finished goods never pile up at the wrong building.
  • 3PL Business Development: Design, launch, and grow our third-party warehousing and fulfillment services. This is not “help out with 3PL” — you are building a revenue line, and your bonus reflects it.
  • Logistics & Freight Cost Management: Coordinate carriers and manage freight to minimize delivery times and transportation costs. Find the savings, prove them with data, and bank them.
  • Leadership & Accountability (LMA): Lead and manage through your managers — set the standards, inspect what you expect, and hold them accountable for holding their teams accountable. A high-performance culture that runs on standards, not heroics.
  • Food Safety Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to SQF, HACCP, and GMP standards in everything your teams touch. Lot traceability is non-negotiable.
  • Continuous Improvement: Relentlessly attack waste in material flow, storage utilization, and freight. Bring the ideas, measure the results, make them stick.

Working With the Director of Manufacturing

You’ll partner daily with our Director of Manufacturing, who owns production across both plants. Three hand-offs define the boundary, and both roles are held to the same definitions:

  • Inventory Accuracy: Manufacturing owns the accuracy of transactions into the system; you own the accuracy of the physical count. The two must reconcile — and both of you answer for it when they don’t.
  • Lot Traceability: Manufacturing owns lot integrity through production; you own it through storage, shuttle, and shipment. The chain cannot break at the hand-off.
  • Inter-Site Shuttle: You own the shuttle schedule and execution; Manufacturing owns communicating material needs and finished-goods output in time to plan it.

The Requirements

  • Proven leadership experience in warehouse, distribution, or logistics operations — multi-site preferred
  • A demonstrated track record of hiring, developing, and upgrading managers — you can name the leaders you’ve built, and the ones you moved out when the bar wasn’t met (required)
  • Hands-on WMS implementation experience — you’ve built or materially improved a warehouse management system, not just used one (required)
  • Experience designing or growing a 3PL / contract warehousing/fulfillment business — this is the differentiator
  • Deep understanding of supply chain integration, inventory control, and freight/carrier management
  • ERP fluency — Acumatica experience is a plus
  • Data-driven management style — comfortable building and running the operation on KPIs and dashboards (Power BI a plus)
  • Co-packing, food, or CPG environment experience preferred (SQF/HACCP/GMP)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • High accountability, learning agility, and a customer-focused, get-it-done mindset

Preferred Skills

  • SQL, Python, PowerQuery, VBA, WMS, Dashboard Management

Pay range and compensation package

Base salary range: $165,000 – $190,000, based on experience and qualifications, plus a 20% target annual bonus tied to the four things this role controls: logistics cost, inventory accuracy, on-time WMS go-live, and 3PL revenue growth — gated on accuracy and traceability standards.

  • Benefits include health coverage, paid time off, and profit sharing. This range is provided in good faith pursuant to the Illinois Equal Pay Act.

The Reward

• Recognition for your hard work and commitment

• Opportunities for career growth within a rapidly growing company that values ambition

• A culture that rewards your efforts — what you give, we give back

• Profit sharing: we all succeed together. Failure is not an option
