Description

As a Despatch Team Leader at PlaceMakers New Lynn, you’ll take ownership and overseeing the day-to-day despatch operations. You’ll lead, coach, support, and develop a small team to ensure customer orders are picked, loaded, and delivered safely, accurately, and on time. Playing a key part in managing the efficient flow of products and coordinating logistics and delivery schedules, you’ll ensure products are ready for transport, and the despatch function operates safely and efficiently every day.

  • Lead, coach and develop the despatch team through on-the-job training and development
  • Oversee daily despatch operations, ensuring orders are picked, loaded and dispatched
  • Manage workload priorities, staffing requirements and planning delivery logistics
  • Coordinate delivery schedules and fleet utilisation
  • Verify orders against documentation and resolve any discrepancies
  • Monitor inventory levels, stock accuracy, cycle counts, and replenishment activities
  • Manage documentation and maintain accurate system records
  • Build strong working relationships with customers and internal stakeholders
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised despatch area through general housekeeping
  • Operate a Forklift

Permanent full-time role based at PlaceMakers New Lynn offering 40 hours per week Monday to Friday with rostered Saturdays.

About You

To succeed in this role, you’ll be a hands-on leader who leads by example and knows how to motivate and develop a team. With proven leadership experience in a despatch, logistics, or a warehousing environment, you’ll be comfortable balancing the demands of leading a team with day-to-day demands of a busy despatch operations ensuring everything runs smoothly.

  • Proven leadership or supervisory experience with the ability to inspire and support a team
  • Previous experience in a despatch, logistics or warehousing environment
  • Physically fit and capable of heavy lifting and manual handling
  • Full NZ Class 1 drivers’ licence is Essential
  • Forklift experience with F endorsement is a Must
  • Great attention to detail with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working with inventory, workflow management or order management systems
  • Confident using technology and navigating multiple systems
  • Knowledge of building products or the construction industry is advantageous
