Purpose of the Position
The Deputy Air Freight Operations Manager is responsible for supporting the effective management, coordination and continuous improvement of the company’s airfreight operations. The role ensures that import, export and transit shipments are handled accurately, efficiently and in compliance with customer requirements, airline regulations, customs procedures and internal company standards.
Key responsibilites:
- Acitve patricipation in managing the airfreight team and supervising daily work processes
- Organising and coordinating airfreight shipments, including the management of transport schedules, costs, required documentation and shipment tracking
- Recommending the most suitable transport modes and routes based on customer requirements and shipment parameters, and preparing quotations
- Maintaining contact with customers, airlines, ground handling agents, customs brokers, warehousing service providers and other partners
- Supervising compliance with IATA regulations related to the handling of lithium batteries and dangerous goods
- Operating the airfreight department in line with company policies, internal procedures, business plans and KPI-s
Requirements:
- Higher education degree preferably in freight forwarding or logistics
- 5–10 years of relevant experience in airfreight forwarding
- 3-5 years of experience as a team leader
- Advanced command of English both written and spoken
- Advanced MS office skills (Excel, Outlook)
- Professional knowledge of IATA, DG, Customs
