JOB DESCRIPTION
A diesel mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing diesel-powered vehicles and machinery to ensure optimal performance and safety. They perform preventative maintenance, including engine tune-ups, oil changes, and system adjustments, to minimize breakdowns. Utilizing diagnostic tools, they identify and resolve issues in systems such as engines, brakes, and transmissions. Diesel mechanics must maintain accurate records of repairs and prioritize compliance with safety standards and regulations.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform detailed inspections to identify mechanical, electrical, and engine-related issues.
Use diagnostictools and equipmentto assess the condition of diesel engines and systems.
Conduct routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication of parts.
Repair or replace defective components, including engines, brakes, transmissions, and fuel systems.
Troubleshoot problems in engine performance, electrical systems, and hydraulics.
Test repaired vehicles to ensure they meet safety and performance standards.
Maintain detailed records of repairs, parts used, and services performed.
Provide reports on completed tasks and future maintenance requirements.
Ensure all work adheres to workshop safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and followsafety protocolsduring repairs.
Maintain and organize workshop tools, equipment, and spare parts inventory.
Report any shortages or required purchases to the supervisor.
Communicate with customers to explain repairs, costs, and maintenance schedules.
Offer professional advice on preventative measures to prolong vehicle lifespan.
Work closely with other mechanics and workshop staff to ensureefficient operations.
EXPERIENCE &EDUCATION
5-7 years ofhands-on experiencein diesel engine repair and maintenance, preferably in a workshop environment.
Experience with diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems in diesel-powered vehicles and machinery.
Familiarity with diagnostic tools, testing equipment, and workshop practices.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: QAR2,500.00 – QAR3,000.00 per month
