Job Overview:
Join a flexible driving position delivering aftermarket automotive parts to dealerships. Flex drivers fill in for drivers on sick leave, vacation, or high-volume routes. This role requires maneuvering in tight dealership lots, primarily in downtown Chicago at night.
Lanes & Routes:
Covering IA, IL, IN, KS, MN, MO, ND, SD, NE, WI
1,500 solo miles / 3,000 team miles per week
Average of 8 stops per week
Pay & Bonuses:
Solo Pay: $0.54 per mile
Team Pay: $0.36 per mile
Weekly Guaranteed Pay: $1,350 solo / $1,550 team
New Hire Transition Bonus: $500
Referral Bonus: Up to $3,000
Accessorial Pay:
Stop Pay: $13.00 solo / $15.00 team split
Delay Pay: $18.54 per hour solo / $9.27 per hour team
Pay Increases: $0.005 per mile
Schedule & Home Time:
Start Times: Between 5 PM – 1 AM
Workweek: Monday – Saturday
Solo Drivers: Home daily
Team Drivers: Home weekly (team driving is rare)
Equipment & Freight:
Trucks: 2014-2021 Peterbilts (Automatic) with Pre-Pass & EZ Pass
Trailers: 28’ and 48’ Dry Vans with lift gates
Freight Type: Touch freight – handling delivery cages, totes, and loose parts
Truck Speed: 65 MPH pedal & cruise
Parking & Location:
Secure on-site parking at Parts Center in Davenport, IA
Requirements:
12+ months of recent tractor-trailer experience
Must be comfortable maneuvering in downtown Chicago
Ability to handle, position, and secure delivery cages.
Doubles endorsement preferred but not required
Additional Notes:
No pets or passengers allowed
Flex drivers cover call-offs, vacations, or assist with deliveries
Training: Minimum one week (paid $18.54 hourly) before running solo
Responsibilities:
Safely operate a CDL Class A truck for timely deliveries
Perform pre-trip & post-trip inspections
Maintain accurate logs & records
Follow traffic laws & company policies
