Job Summary
We are seeking a dependable CDL-A driver based in for an immediate 4-week temporary assignment. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic logistics operation, ensuring the safe and timely delivery of freight across various routes. Hours are within 7am-6pm daily. Living close to yard is a priority.
Duties
- Operate tractor-trailers equipped with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, or tankers, ensuring compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations.
- Navigate routes efficiently using GPS navigation systems, planning optimal delivery schedules across over-the-road (OTR) driving routes.
- Load and unload freight safely, including logistics cargo handling and manual handling tasks, ensuring proper load securement and adherence to hazardous materials regulations when applicable.
- Transport automobile transportation and hazardous goods while maintaining safety standards for dangerous goods handling.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks and trailers to identify maintenance needs or safety concerns.
- Deliver freight accurately to designated locations, managing route driving responsibilities with professionalism and punctuality.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding delivery status, route adjustments, or safety issues during transit.
Experience
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including delivery driving with tractor-trailers or similar heavy-duty vehicles.
- Prior experience handling freight involving refrigerated trailers, hazardous materials (Hazmat), flatbed loads, or tanker trucks is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with truck loading and unloading procedures, including manual handling techniques for logistics cargo handling.
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT standards, hazardous materials regulations, and dangerous goods transportation requirements.
- Experience operating trucks with manual transmissions and utilizing GPS navigation systems for route planning.
- Valid CDL-A license with a clean driving record; additional certifications such as Hazmat endorsement are a plus.
