Position: Customs Trade Specialist – 2
Description
Responsible for coordinating the documentation required by US Customs and Government Agencies for the entry of goods into the US on behalf of importers.
Provide impeccable customer service.
Process commodities identified as requiring specialized handling to reduce risks of liquidated damages and penalties through proper classification and duty preference applications.
Obtain correct classification of goods for customs release using databases, SOPs, tariff books, internet, or customs resources.
Perform data entry and processing of import documentation for submission to US Customs, including handling all PGAs (Participating Government Agencies).
Maintain and update all shipment documentation in compliance with record-keeping requirements.
Adhere to all international importing and exporting regulations.
Collaborate with internal staff, departments, Fed Ex operating companies, customers, and government agencies to deliver high-quality service.
Process agency brokerage shipments and handle remote filings as needed.
Perform entry reconciliations and reviews as necessary.
Follow up on customs matters, resolve issues, and ensure compliance with all policies.
Perform other duties as assigned. Paid training is provided.
Qualifications
HS Diploma or GED required.
Minimum 6 months of work experience; 12 months industry experience preferred.
Data entry and keyboarding skills required.
CCS and/or Broker licenses preferred.
Proficiency in MS Office, Outlook, and office equipment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to handle high-volume, time-sensitive work independently.
Ability to use multiple systems and reference materials.
Knowledge of customs regulations and harmonized tariff schedules preferred.
Additional Information
This role is based in Memphis, with in-office work required per company policy.
Shift: Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4:30 pm.
