Customs Entry Writer – Freight Forwarding Operations

A well-established and fast-growing international logistics company is seeking an experienced Customs Entry Writer to join its Los Angeles team.
This role involves managing the full scope of freight forwarding and customs compliance for both air and ocean shipments. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, highly organized, and experienced in U.S. import regulations across a variety of commodities.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and submit customs entries in compliance with U.S. Customs regulations and internal procedures
Manage full-cycle freight forwarding operations, including booking, documentation, and coordination for air and ocean shipments
Communicate directly with clients, carriers, and brokers to ensure timely cargo clearance and delivery
Classify goods using HTS codes and perform valuation and duty/tax calculations
Maintain thorough and accurate records to ensure regulatory compliance
Coordinate with overseas agents, vendors, and internal teams to manage end-to-end shipment logistics
Deliver proactive communication and high-level customer service throughout the shipment process
Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years of experience in customs entry writing and freight forwarding operations
Solid knowledge of HTS classification, import/export regulations, and clearance procedures
Experience with both air and ocean shipments, including FCL and LCL
Proficiency in logistics systems (e.g., Descartes, CargoWise, or similar platforms)
Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
Must be able to work on-site at the Los Angeles office
