Your opportunity
The Customs & Duty Expert is responsible for ensuring compliance with international trade regulations and optimizing customs and duty processes to support the company’s global operations. This role involves managing import/export activities, ensuring adherence to customs laws, and minimizing duty costs while mitigating risks. The Customs & Duty Expert acts as the primary point of contact for all customs-related matters and provides expertise to support business operations and strategic projects.
Your Mission
Ensure compliance with all applicable customs regulations and trade laws across the company’s operational regions.
Monitor updates in international customs regulations and assess their impact on business operations.
Develop strategies to minimize customs duties, tariffs, and associated costs while adhering to legal requirements.
Implement duty-saving authorizations, such as Free Trade Agreements (FTAs)
Oversee the accuracy and completeness of customs documentation, including classification of goods (HS codes), origin declarations, and valuation.
Establish and maintain customs processes and procedures to streamline operations and reduce errors. AEO certification for Sidel entities
Provide expertise to internal stakeholders regarding customs requirements and best practices for imports and exports.
Act as the liaison with customs authorities, brokers, and third-party service providers.
Conduct regular audits of customs activities to identify and mitigate compliance risks.
Lead with legal representatives of any customs controls or audits
Your Profile
You hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and have in-depth knowledge of customs regulations, HS code classification, and trade compliance frameworks (e.g., AEO, CTPAT). With experience in customs brokerage, freight forwarding, or logistics operations, you are well-versed in managing international trade requirement
Fluent in English, you also have proficiency in an additional language such as French, Italian, or Chinese. Your strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, combined with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, enable you to collaborate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
Familiarity with customs management systems and tools is a valuable asset in this role.
