An established international freight forwarding company is looking for an entrepreneurial and commercially driven Country Head to establish and lead its Indonesia operations. This is a unique opportunity to build a business from the ground up, driving growth, operational excellence, and long-term market presence.
Key Responsibilities
Country Leadership & Strategy
- Lead the establishment of the Indonesia business, including legal setup, office establishment, recruitment, and operational readiness.
- Develop and execute the country business strategy aligned with regional and global objectives.
- Build the company's brand presence and establish strong relationships with customers, partners, government authorities, and industry stakeholders.
- Drive business growth while ensuring operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
Operations Management
- Oversee end-to-end freight forwarding operations across Air Freight, Ocean Freight, Customs Brokerage, and value-added logistics services.
- Ensure compliance with company SOPs, local regulations, and industry standards.
- Drive operational efficiency through KPI management, process improvements, and service excellence.
- Manage relationships with carriers, customs brokers, transport providers, and warehouse partners.
Leadership & Team Development
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing local team across Operations, Customer Service, Sales, and Finance.
- Foster a collaborative, customer-focused, and performance-driven culture.
- Coach and mentor team members while developing future leaders within the organization.
Commercial Development
- Support business development initiatives alongside regional sales teams and global account managers.
- Engage strategic customers, participate in RFQs/RFPs, and contribute to solution design and pricing strategies.
- Develop and execute local sales plans to expand market share and strengthen customer relationships.
- Drive customer retention and profitable business growth.
Financial Management
- Own the country P&L, ensuring sustainable revenue growth, profitability, and cost control.
- Oversee invoicing, credit management, WIP control, and financial reporting.
- Monitor business performance and implement corrective actions where required.
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure full compliance with local regulations, trade compliance requirements, health, safety, security, and company governance policies.
- Lead risk management, business continuity, and escalation management for the country.
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years' experience in international freight forwarding or logistics.
- At least 5 years in a senior leadership, Branch Manager, Country Manager, or General Manager capacity.
- Proven experience managing P&L and leading cross-functional teams.
- Experience establishing, expanding, or transforming a freight forwarding branch or business is highly preferred.
- Strong operational knowledge across Air Freight, Ocean Freight, Customs Brokerage, and domestic transportation.
- Familiarity with CargoWise or similar freight forwarding systems is an advantage.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience in pricing, procurement, carrier negotiations, and business development.
- Entrepreneurial, hands-on leader with excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
