Controller / Leader of Finance — Rhode Sense

About Us
Rhode Sense is a growing 3PL and freight brokerage operating across commercial freight and military household goods relocation, with a presence in Rochester, Denver, and Charlotte. We’re scaling toward $20M plus in revenue and looking for a finance leader to help us get there.
The Role
We’re hiring a Controller / Leader of Finance to own our accounting function end-to-end while also driving the financial strategy behind our growth — budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning. This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to build, not just maintain.
What You’ll Do
- Manage and grow our accounting team; own month-end and year-end close
- Maintain accurate financials across HQ and branch locations
- Own our annual budget model and lead quarterly reforecasts
- Build and manage rolling cash flow forecasts for a freight-brokerage payment cycle
- Manage banking relationships and working capital needs
- Support financial recordkeeping tied to our work as a DOW subcontractor
What You Bring
- 7+ years in accounting/finance, with 2+ years leading a team
- Logistics, freight, or transportation industry experience strongly preferred
- Strong Excel modeling chops
- QBO and Bill.com expert
- Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance; CPA a plus
- Comfortable in a multi-location, mixed W-2/1099 environment
- Government contracting or compliance (CMMC/DFARS) exposure is a plus, not required
Compensation
Base salary range: $110,000–$125,000, commensurate with experience, plus performance bonus.
