We are seeking a highly motivated Compliance Consultant to join our client’s regulatory and compliance team within the energy sector. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the organization meets all internal policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements, particularly relating to energy trading, environmental compliance, and operational integrity.
Role- Compliance Consultant (Commodities)
Location- London, UK (onsite)
Contract- 6 months with possible extension
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Contractor is charged with supporting the Compliance Team in ensuring XYZ Energy Inc’s marketing and trading activities are conducted in accordance with applicable Anti Bribery and Corruption (ABC) and Economic Sanctions (ES) regulations such the Foreign and Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), the UK Bribery Act (UKBA), US OFAC sanctions, the EU Common Foreign and Security Policy (CSFP) and other relevant legislation where XYZ has a material presence.
The Contractor will monitor compliance with internal processes developed by the Legal and Compliance Departments.
Knowledge:
Experience with Know Your Counterparty (KYC) and Due Diligence (DD) processes and related legislation (the UK Bribery Act and US FCPA). A demonstrated background in ABAC compliance practices and principles would be an advantage but not a requirement.
Responsibilities:
ABAC and Economic Sanctions Compliance.
Carry out CMI’s Due Diligence checks on counterparties, shipping operation suppliers, marketing consultants and shipping agents.
Provide back up to the Senior Analysts in coordinating the KYC approval process for XYZ Marketing International LLP (CMI).
Keep abreast of new or developing compliance risks related to changes to ABAC and ES regulations and prepare briefings for colleagues in Compliance and Legal.
Collaborate with colleagues to develop positive and proactive approaches to ABAC and ES compliance.
Education and Certifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent is required.
Experience:
1-2 years’ experience in ABAC/KYC compliance preferred
Skills:
Working knowledge of natural gas and LNG market/of ABAC and KYC processes preferred
Must demonstrate integrity, decisiveness and good judgment under pressure
Ability to manage a diverse and demanding workload, work independently and as a member of a team
Strong ambition to learn and ability to communicate with people of different professional backgrounds
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required
Strong analytical skills are required.
