Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and dependable Company Driver/Owner Operator to join our team. We are a family owned outfit and offer regional loads to the midwest and back. Drivers typically leave on a Monday and are back on Friday. Equipment is all late model and well maintained. Runs are consistent and there in no forced dispatch, we can accommodate any schedule in order to make your time on the road simpler.
Duties
- Operate tractor-trailers with manual transmission across over-the-road (OTR) routes, ensuring adherence to FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards.
- Safely load, unload, and secure freight such as refrigerated goods, hazardous materials (hazmat), flatbed loads, or tanker cargo using proper manual handling techniques.
- Navigate routes efficiently using GPS navigation systems to meet delivery schedules while optimizing fuel efficiency.
- Transport automobile transportation or other specialized freight with precision and care.
- Manage the documentation process for freight shipments, including bills of lading, delivery receipts, and compliance paperwork related to hazardous materials regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections and routine vehicle maintenance checks to ensure truck safety and compliance with DOT regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, clients, and emergency responders when necessary to coordinate deliveries or address issues on the road.
Qualifications
- Proven 2 years experience in commercial truck driving, including delivery driving and route driving with a strong understanding of truck loading/unloading procedures.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) appropriate for the vehicle type; experience with manual transmission preferred.
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, hazardous materials regulations, DOT compliance standards, and safety protocols related to dangerous goods.
- Ability to handle logistics cargo securely while adhering to safety standards for manual handling and truck loading/unloading.
- Excellent driving record with a focus on safety; familiarity with over-the-road (OTR) driving routes is essential.
