Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers, including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, and tankers, on over-the-road (OTR) routes while complying with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards
- Navigate routes using GPS navigation systems to ensure timely delivery schedules and optimize travel paths
- Load and unload freight manually or with equipment, handling logistics cargo with care, including hazardous materials (hazmat) and dangerous goods when applicable
- Transport automobiles and other specialized cargo securely using appropriate trailer types
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety, including checking for hazardous conditions or compliance issues
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation, logs, and reports in accordance with FMCSA regulations
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams to coordinate deliveries, report issues, and update delivery statuses
Experience
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, particularly with tractor-trailers or similar heavy-duty vehicles
- Demonstrated ability to drive manual transmission trucks safely over long distances on route driving assignments
- Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, flatbed hauling, tanker operations, and automobile transportation preferred
- Knowledge of hazardous materials regulations (hazmat) and proper handling procedures for dangerous goods
- Experience in load & unload operations, truck loading/unloading techniques, and freight handling logistics
- Valid CDL A license with clean driving record; additional endorsements such as Hazmat or Tanker are a plus
- Understanding of FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration), DOT regulations, and hazardous materials regulations for safe compliance
