Duties
- Safely operate commercial trucks with manual transmission across over-the-road (OTR) routes, ensuring compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations.
- Load and unload freight using manual handling techniques, managing logistics cargo handling efficiently and securely.
- Transport various types of freight, including hazardous materials (hazmat), dangerous goods, refrigerated items, flatbed loads, and tanker shipments, following all hazardous materials regulations.
- Navigate routes using GPS navigation systems to ensure timely deliveries while optimizing travel efficiency.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks and trailers to identify maintenance needs or safety issues before departure and upon return.
- Load and unload cargo accurately, ensuring proper securing of freight to prevent damage during transit.
- Maintain detailed logs of driving hours, delivery records, and inspection reports in compliance with FMCSA regulations.
Qualifications
- Valid CDL A license with a clean driving record; experience with manual transmission preferred.
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including delivery driving and route driving across OTR routes.
- Knowledge of truck loading/unloading procedures, logistics cargo handling, and freight documentation.
- Familiarity with various trailer types such as refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and tractor-trailers.
- Understanding of hazardous materials regulations (Hazmat) and dangerous goods handling is a plus.
- Ability to operate GPS navigation systems effectively for route planning and adjustments.
- Strong commitment to safety standards in accordance with FMCSA and DOT regulations; ability to adhere strictly to safety protocols during all phases of operation.
