Job description:
Atlantic Corporation drivers are always required to safely operate Atlantic equipment to transport products across designated routes, ensuring timely deliveries while adhering to all DOT regulations. Our drivers are to act with respect, diligence, and composure at all times.
Driver qualifications required:
- Valid Class A license, medical card, and all applicable regulations are met.
- Must have at least 3 years of driving experience with a MVR with no more than 3 points
- Must be willing to operate any and all Atlantic equipment including forklift, pallet jack, hand trucks and will complete any tasks Atlantic deems necessary
- Must be able to hook/unhook various commercial combinations, manually lower and raise landing gear, operate fifth wheel release lever, lock and release pintle-hooks, attach and release safety chains, open and close cargo doors, climb into and out of vehicles, fuel vehicles.
- Must perform all tasks requested including all above and below as well as other duties deemed necessary by management. This list is not all-inclusive and is subject to change with business needs.
- Professional representation of Atlantic Corporation and the trucking industry through responsible driving, and all other actions. Must NOT disclose or share any confidential information concerning the property, business, or affairs of Atlantic Corporation, or customers of the Company
Essential Skills of a CDL driver:
- Must be able to sit, stand, and walk and remain alert while driving for an aggregate period of up to 11 hours.
- Able to lift to 50 lbs., be able to bend, squat, climb stairs, and reach.
- Must have the ability to read, write, communicate in English and perform simple mathematical calculations with Must be willing to operate any and all Atlantic equipment including forklift, pallet jack, hand trucks and will complete any tasks Atlantic deems necessary.
Driving & Delivery:
- Perform pre and post trip inspections of the equipment- completed on a DVIR app or ELD logging system to identify potential machinal issues and ensure the vehicle is road-ready. All defects should be reported to your supervisor immediately.
- Load and unload cargo securely, using the proper equipment, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with weight limits.
- Safely navigating roads, highways, and various weather conditions while adhering to traffic law and company safety guidelines.
- Follow assigned routes, utilizing handsfree GPS systems or MAPs to reach destinations efficiently.
Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all DOT regulations regarding hours of service, weight limits, and safety standards
- Maintain a clean driving record and practice defensive driving techniques
- Report any accidents, incidents, or potential safety hazards immediately to DOT compliance
Documentation and Communication:
- Complete and maintain accurate logs of drive time, mileage, and deliveries. A driver trip sheet is required each day and should be turned into your supervisor.
- Communicate effectively with your supervisor regarding route updates, delays, and any issues encountered during deliveries.
