Mazu Recruitment is partnering with an international shipping company in the search for a Chartering Manager to join its growing Singapore office.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced dry bulk chartering professional to join a commercially focused team responsible for the employment of owned geared and non-geared bulk carriers within the spot market. Working closely with senior management, the successful candidate will play a key role in identifying cargo opportunities, maximising vessel earnings and contributing to the continued growth of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the commercial employment of owned geared and non-geared vessels within the spot market
- Negotiate and conclude spot market fixtures, identifying opportunities to maximise vessel utilisation and earnings
- Develop and maintain relationships with charterers, brokers and other market participants
- Monitor freight market developments, cargo flows, vessel positioning and regional trading opportunities
- Identify and evaluate commercial opportunities to optimise vessel deployment and trading performance
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to support chartering strategies and commercial decision-making
- Prepare market intelligence and commercial reports for management
- Contribute to the continued growth and development of the company's chartering activities in the region
Requirements
- Previous experience within dry bulk chartering within an owner is required
- Experience chartering geared and/or non-geared bulk carriers
- Strong understanding of spot market trading and dry bulk freight market dynamics
- Existing relationships across the dry bulk chartering and brokerage market would be advantageous
- Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with charterers, brokers and other key market participants
- Self-motivated, commercially minded and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Should be able to work independently and take ownership of decisions taken.
