Position Summary
Red Baron Transportation is seeking a CDL Yard Spotter to support our night shift operations. This role is essential to maintaining the smooth and safe flow of trailer movement within the yard, including staging, loading, and unloading coordination. The ideal candidate is reliable, safety-focused, and experienced in yard management within a fast-paced logistics or distribution setting. Success in this position requires consistent adherence to BWT’s policies, including attendance, conduct standards, and our Drug-Free Workplace Policy
Key Responsibilities
Safely move trailers between dock doors, staging areas, and parking spots
Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on trailers and yard tractors
Ensure all trailers are properly chocked and secured when parked
Maintain accurate records of trailer locations and movements
Communicate with warehouse and operations teams to coordinate trailer activity
Identify and report equipment issues, hazards, or safety concerns promptly
Keep the yard organized, clean, and free of obstructions
Comply with all Red Baron policies and procedures, including safety, conduct, and no-smoking guidelines
Support other yard and site-related tasks as assigned
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid Class A CDL license
Current DOT Medical Card
Clearinghouse Compliance: Active listing in the DOT FMCSA Clearinghouse
Clean driving record with strong safety history
Must pass background check and drug screen
At least 3 years of experience in a yard spotter or similar CDL role preferred
Comfortable operating yard tractors and working in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions
Able to lift up to 25 lbs and complete physical tasks as needed
Compensation and Benefits
Hourly Pay: $20.25 – $21.00 per hour, depending on experience

Night Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM on a 36/48 rotating schedule
