Overview
We are seeking a dedicated CDL Driver to join our team at our facility in Childress Texas. This role involves operating commercial trucks to transport freight efficiently and safely. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of logistics cargo handling, vehicle maintenance, and compliance with federal and state transportation regulations.
Duties
- Operate tractor-trailers, including flatbeds, and tankers, adhering strictly to DOT (Department of Transportation) and FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations.
- Load and unload freight manually or with equipment, ensuring proper handling of hazardous materials and dangerous goods in compliance with hazardous materials regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of trucks to identify maintenance needs or safety issues.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo details, and delivery records in accordance with DOT regulations.
- Collaborate with dispatch teams to plan routes and update delivery schedules as needed.
- Perform routine truck maintenance checks and report any mechanical issues promptly.
- Uphold safety protocols during truck loading, unloading, and manual handling activities.
Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for the type of vehicle operated.
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including route driving and delivery driving.
- Familiarity with trailers, flatbed trucks, tankers, and automobile transportation.
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT regulations, hazardous materials regulations, and safety standards.
- Experience with manual transmission trucks preferred.
- Ability to operate GPS navigation systems effectively for route planning.
- Strong manual handling skills for truck loading and unloading tasks.
- Excellent driving record with a focus on safety and compliance.
- Ability to work independently on long-distance over-the-road (OTR) routes while maintaining punctuality.
- Good communication skills for coordinating with dispatchers and clients.
