CDL Class A Driver-Weekly pay up to $1,250 Jobs in Hammond, LA at Suncoast Drivers
Driver assist in unload only as needed. Store personal is responsible for 99% of offloading. Driver will oversee that correct pallets come off the truck for the appropriate store. Initial dispatch times vary in the AM with secondary afternoon runs to be expected. Drivers will need to have flexibility to work on weekends. Drivers can expect to be home daily with no overnights, unless a route comes up with a possible layover which the driver will be asked about doing that route before getting assigned to that route.
The drivers will switch over to component pay (miles, stops, delay, walk-in, rail..etc.). Component pay is based on several different areas not just miles and stops.
Drivers will have 2 days off during the 7 day period.
Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Truck Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting freight safely and efficiently across various routes. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, excellent driving skills, and the ability to manage time effectively. The Truck Driver will operate different types of trucks, including flatbeds, roll-off trucks, refrigerated trailers, and dump trucks.
Duties
Safely operate assigned trucks to transport goods to designated locations.
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure safety and compliance.
Load and unload freight using appropriate equipment, including forklifts when necessary.
Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, routes traveled, and cargo delivered.
Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while on the road.
Communicate effectively with dispatchers regarding route changes or delays.
Manage route driving efficiently to optimize delivery schedules.
Ensure proper handling of freight, including securing loads for safe transport.
Experience
Proven experience in truck driving with a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL).
Familiarity with various truck types such as flatbeds, roll-off trucks, refrigerated trailers, and dump trucks is preferred.
Experience operating manual transmission vehicles is a plus.
Strong understanding of freight handling procedures and safety regulations.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent time management skills and attention to detail.
