Carrier Sales Representative | Wood Dale, IL | Hybrid work schedule
Our client is an established international freight forwarder seeking an experienced Carrier Sales Representative to join their growing team. This role will focus on sourcing and managing carrier capacity, negotiating rates, and developing strong carrier relationships to support domestic and international freight operations.
Renumeration
- $60,000 – $72,000 base salary + BONUS
- Hybrid schedule – 2 days working from home

Key Responsibilities
- Source and secure reliable carrier capacity for customer shipments
- Negotiate competitive rates and transportation agreements
- Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers and brokers
- Manage flatbed transportation and carrier procurement
- Monitor market conditions, capacity, and pricing trends
- Coordinate with operations, sales, and international freight teams
- Identify cost-saving and service improvement opportunities
- Ensure carriers meet company compliance and service requirements
- Track carrier performance, rates, and availability
- Support the movement of freight from origin through final delivery
Requirements
- 2-6 years of carrier procurement, transportation, or freight experience
- Strong flatbed experience is required
- Experience negotiating freight rates and securing capacity
- Strong knowledge of the U.S. trucking and carrier market
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to build and maintain carrier relationships
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- International ocean freight knowledge/understanding is a huge bonus
- Experience working for a freight forwarder, 3PL, or transportation company preferred
