Position Summary:
BRITT Cargo Express is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Cargo Routing Specialist to coordinate efficient routing and movement of freight. The specialist will develop and adjust transportation routes, monitor shipments, communicate with drivers and logistics partners, and help ensure cargo is delivered safely and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and coordinate daily routes for cargo pickups and deliveries.
- Review shipment details, cargo requirements, delivery locations, and time constraints when creating routing plans.
- Monitor freight movement and track shipments throughout the transportation process.
- Adjust routes and schedules in response to delays, traffic conditions, cancellations, or operational changes.
- Coordinate with drivers, dispatchers, warehouse personnel, carriers, and customers.
- Maintain accurate records of routes, loads, delivery schedules, and shipment status.
- Identify routing issues and develop practical solutions to minimize delays and transportation costs.
- Use transportation management systems, GPS tools, spreadsheets, and other logistics software to manage routing information.
- Verify pickup and delivery addresses and ensure routing information is complete and accurate.
- Provide shipment status updates to internal teams and customers.
- Prepare routing reports and maintain transportation documentation.
- Support compliance with company transportation procedures and applicable freight-handling requirements.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in logistics, freight transportation, dispatch, routing, or supply chain operations.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to analyze shipment information and make efficient routing decisions.
- Good knowledge of transportation and freight-handling processes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and logistics/transportation software.
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple shipments and changing priorities.
Pay: $24.20 – $26.60 per hour
