Position Summary
We are looking for an experienced Business Development Manager / Operations Manager to lead sales growth, client engagement, and day-to-day logistics operations. This hybrid role is ideal for a strategic thinker who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can manage both external relationships and internal workflows.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development (50%)
Identify and secure new shipper clients through cold outreach, networking, referrals, and industry events.
Develop strategic partnerships to grow revenue and expand our service offerings.
Prepare and deliver customized sales presentations and proposals to prospective clients.
Track sales pipeline activities and conversion metrics using CRM tools.
Negotiate pricing and service agreements that align with company goals.
Operations Management (50%)
Oversee daily freight brokerage operations including load booking, dispatch, carrier sourcing, and issue resolution.
Ensure high service levels by maintaining strong relationships with carriers and customers.
Manage and mentor logistics coordinators and dispatchers to achieve KPIs.
Optimize operational workflows, cost efficiency, and service performance.
Collaborate with accounting on billing, invoicing, and collections.
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in non-asset freight brokerage or transportation logistics.
Proven success in business development or sales within the transportation industry.
Strong knowledge of freight markets, load boards and TMS platforms.
Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
Experience leading or managing a team in a logistics or brokerage setting.
Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and drive process improvements.
Self-motivated, adaptable, and results-oriented.
Preferred Qualifications
Existing book of business or established shipper/carrier relationships.
Familiarity with non-asset brokerage operations and compliance best practices.
Bachelors degree in Business, or a related field (preferred, not required).
