Responsibilities
- Showroom sales: Greet walk-in customers and respond to inquiries by phone, email, text, and messaging apps; identify needs, recommend suitable products, assist in preparing quotes, and meet company sales targets
- Product knowledge & material guidance: Maintain in-depth knowledge of specifications, materials, finishes, installation methods, and applications; advise customers, contractors, and designers on product comparisons and material selection
- Account development: Maintain existing accounts and develop new B2B business with contractors, remodeling companies, and interior designers; handle returns, exchanges, and after-sales customer service
- Supplier sourcing & management: Research, compare, and evaluate domestic and overseas building materials suppliers; negotiate pricing, follow through on samples, quality confirmation, and lead times; maintain supplier records and purchasing files
- Communication & coordination: Serve as the link between customers, suppliers, the warehouse, and the sales team, communicating in both Mandarin and English, including email and messaging across time zones
- Sample preparation: Cut, trim, and finish product samples (tile, stone, flooring, wood panels) on short notice; label, pack, and ship samples, restock as needed, and maintain showroom displays
- Order tracking: Own each order’s status from confirmation through production and inbound progress, lead-time confirmation, and shipping notification, updating customers and the team at every stage
- Outbound & delivery: Arrange shipping via UPS, FedEx, and LTL freight; prepare bills of lading (BOL) and shipping documents; track shipments in transit through customer receipt and resolve delays or damage issues; assist with moving, loading, unloading, packing, and local deliveries
Requirements
- Fluent in both Mandarin and English, able to communicate with customers, suppliers, and warehouse staff and to write business emails independently
- Familiarity with the building materials industry and its products (tile, stone, flooring, hardware, lumber); knowledge of the Los Angeles-area market and contractor network preferred
- Prior sales experience in building materials, home improvement, or hardware, or experience in warehouse management, purchasing, or supply chain, preferred
- Comfortable sourcing and negotiating with suppliers; organized and accurate while managing multiple orders and projects at once
- Physical requirements: able to stand, bend, and climb for extended periods and repeatedly lift 50+ lbs; comfortable working hands-on and able to safely operate a wet saw, table saw, and similar tools
- Valid California driver’s license with a clean driving record; forklift certification a plus
- Proficient with Excel, Office software, ERP and email; experience with, or inventory management software preferred; freight quoting, customs, or supply chain experience a plus
- Legally authorized to work in the United States; high school diploma or equivalent; Spanish language ability a plus
