We are seeking a dynamic and highly organized Box Truck Dispatcher to coordinate the efficient movement of freight via box trucks. Duties
- Coordinate and assign daily dispatch schedules for box trucks, ensuring optimal routing and delivery timelines
- Communicate effectively with drivers via multi-line phone systems and vehicle dispatch software to provide instructions and updates
- Monitor GPS and GIS systems to track vehicle locations, adjust routes as needed, and resolve any logistical issues promptly
- Manage freight documentation, shipping & receiving logs, and data entry within transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management and AS400
- Maintain internal communication channels to relay critical information between drivers, warehouse staff, and customer service teams
- Ensure compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations regarding vehicle operation, hours of service, and safety standards
- Utilize analysis skills to evaluate route efficiency, freight loads, and fleet utilization for continuous improvement in road transportation operations
Requirements
- Proven experience in dispatching within logistics or transportation planning roles involving fleet management or 3PL (Third-Party Logistics) providers
- Proficiency with transportation management systems including Vehicle Dispatch Software, Oracle Transportation Management, SyteLine, and AS400
- Strong knowledge of GIS, GPS technology, supply chain processes, and road transportation operations
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask using multi-line phone systems and internal communication tools
- Exceptional communication skills with phone etiquette expertise to manage customer inquiries and driver updates effectively
- Familiarity with DOT regulations governing freight transport and vehicle safety standards
- Ability to perform data entry accurately while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
- Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel and Word; typing skills are essential for efficient documentation
- Experience with shipping & receiving procedures, fleet management practices, and logistics analysis is preferred
