Assistant General Manager of Inventory Jobs in Plymouth, MN at BuyWander
Description:
Assistant General Manager of Inventory (Full Time)
Department: Operations
Reports To: Chief Operations Officer
Location: Minneapolis (Plymouth), MN
Job Summary
At BuyWander, the Assistant General Manager of Inventory is the operational owner of warehouse execution and inventory flow. This is not a junior General Manager role. It is a distinct leadership position with clear ownership of every unit that enters the building until it is accurately processed, stored, picked, staged, and ready for the customer.
Happy – We bring positive energy to our work and support each other.
Humble – We stay grounded, open to learning, and focused on the team over ego.
High Performing – We set a high bar and hold ourselves accountable to results.
H-loyal – We show up for each other and the company, with loyalty that goes beyond the ordinary.
The AGM of Inventory partners closely with the General Manager to ensure warehouse execution supports business performance. Where the General Manager owns the business, the AGM owns the flow. The AGM translates business expectations into daily warehouse execution and ensures problems are identified, owned, and resolved before they become building-level emergencies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Own truck-arrival readiness, receiving, unloading execution, and inbound freight flow.
- Own processing productivity, throughput, backlog reduction, and product grading and listing execution.
- Own inventory location accuracy, put-away productivity, warehouse organization, and 5S execution.
- Own picking productivity, pick accuracy, pick-wave execution, and cost-per-unit performance.
- Own the operational flow from pick to stage to customer and ensure warehouse and front-end handoffs are effective.
- Own physical inventory discipline, cycle-count execution, aged-inventory identification, and system accuracy.
- Build and execute the daily labor deployment plan and adjust in real time as workload and conditions change.
- Run daily warehouse startup huddles and maintain visibility into backlog, productivity, and recovery needs.
- Own warehouse organization, aisle standards, staging, rack and bin utilization, and visual inventory controls.
- Own operational safety execution within all warehouse processes.
- Directly lead and develop warehouse supervisors and team leads.
- Partner with the General Manager and People Operations on performance management and employee relations.
- Ensure full compliance with company policies and all applicable federal, state, and local employment and workplace safety laws.
- Perform additional responsibilities and strategic initiatives as assigned.
Leadership Expectations
The AGM of Inventory leads by example, creating an environment where accountability, execution, and high performance are the standard. This leader knows the operation at all times, surfaces problems early, and builds recovery plans before issues escalate. Success is measured by throughput, accuracy, labor efficiency, team development, and the ability to deliver consistent results without requiring GM intervention.
You Will
- Own the inbound-to-fulfillment flow across a multimillion-dollar fulfillment and distribution operation.
- Lead warehouse supervisors and associates across receiving, processing, put-away, picking, and fulfillment.
- Build and execute the daily labor deployment plan and adjust in real time based on workload and changing conditions.
- Know the backlog, the bottleneck, the labor need, the root cause, and the recovery plan before the General Manager has to ask.
- Help build, refine, and execute SOPs for receiving, processing, picking, staging, and warehouse operations.
- Work cross-functionally with tech, support, and executive teams to launch new tools and scale operations.
- Hold the warehouse team accountable to high standards and lead with integrity.
