We are representing an established international freight forwarding provider with a strong global network and expertise in managing complex international transportation solutions.
Due to continued growth across its airfreight division, the business is looking to add an experienced Airfreight Operations Specialist to support a wide range of international shipments, including project and high-volume cargo.
About the Role
This is a fully onsite opportunity for an experienced airfreight professional who enjoys managing complex international shipments from start to finish.
You’ll take ownership of the complete shipment lifecycle, coordinating with airlines, customers, overseas partners, and internal teams to ensure cargo moves efficiently, compliantly, and on schedule. The role includes handling both routine and specialist shipments, making it ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced operational environment and enjoys problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage international airfreight shipments from booking through final delivery
- Coordinate high-volume, time-critical, and project cargo movements
- Arrange airline bookings and manage capacity with carriers and consolidators
- Prepare and review all shipment documentation, including Air Waybills, cargo manifests, Dangerous Goods paperwork, and customs documentation
- Ensure shipments comply with IATA, TSA, CBP, and other regulatory requirements
- Monitor shipment progress and proactively communicate updates to customers and internal stakeholders
- Resolve operational issues quickly to minimise service disruptions
- Maintain accurate shipment records within the freight forwarding operating system
- Work closely with pricing and procurement teams to ensure cost-effective routing and accurate rate application
- Coordinate billing, invoicing, and shipment file completion
- Support large-scale logistics projects by working alongside operations and specialist teams
- Provide guidance and support to junior team members when required
Candidate Requirements
- 3–5 years of experience within international airfreight forwarding operations
- Proven experience managing complex, high-volume, or project cargo shipments
- Dangerous Goods (DGR) certification preferred
- Strong understanding of international airfreight procedures, documentation, and Incoterms
- Knowledge of customs regulations and international trade compliance
- Experience using CargoWise or similar freight forwarding operating systems
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
