Position Summary:
Altius Talent is seeking an experienced Air & Ocean Import Agent on behalf of our client in Miami, FL. This role will be responsible for managing end-to-end import shipments across both air and ocean freight, ensuring compliance with all international regulations while delivering exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and manage international air and ocean import shipments from arrival through to final delivery
- Handle import documentation including bills of lading, arrival notices, and customs entries
- Ensure compliance with U.S. import regulations and customs requirements
- Liaise with overseas agents, carriers, customs brokers, and customers
- Track and trace shipments, providing timely updates to clients
- Monitor shipment progress and proactively resolve delays or issues
- Work closely with customs brokers to ensure smooth clearance processes
- Maintain accurate shipment records within the company’s operating system
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and vendors
Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience in air and ocean import freight forwarding
- Strong knowledge of import procedures and customs documentation
- Familiarity with U.S. customs regulations and clearance processes
- Experience working with carriers and logistics systems
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Ability to manage multiple shipments in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working for a freight forwarder or NVOCC
- Knowledge of customs entry systems or working alongside brokers
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is highly advantageous
