Full Job Description
We are seeking a professional and reliable Box Truck Driver to join our local delivery operations team. The ideal candidate will ensure the timely, secure, and professional transport of freight within a defined service area while complying with safety, delivery, and customer service standards.
Key Responsibilities
Operate a straight truck (box truck) to perform pickups and deliveries across designated local zones.
Complete time-sensitive deliveries (e.g., by 12:00 PM or 5:00 PM) depending on freight recovery timeframes.
Use a smartphone or tablet to communicate with dispatch and submit proof of delivery (P.O.D.) within required timeframes (typically within 1 hour of delivery or 15 minutes for special deliveries).
Maintain clean, safe, and properly functioning vehicles; perform routine inspections and keep cargo secure.
Conduct all customer interactions in a professional and courteous manner.
Collect C.O.D. (Collect on Delivery) payments and deliver funds to the office within 24 hours.
Required Qualifications
Valid Driver’s License for box truck operation; CDL not required unless transporting hazardous materials.
D.O.T. medical card (must be current and in possession at all times).
Clean background check (covering a minimum of 5 years; no felonies).
Ability to pass drug testing, including random screenings.
Must wear a company-issued uniform
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in freight or logistics operations preferred.
Familiarity with route navigation apps, delivery dispatch systems, and use of mobile devices for workflow.
Prior employment in a delivery or cartage environment is an asset.
Additional Requirements
Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. without assistance. Larger freight may require team lifts or two-person delivery.
Flexibility to complete occasional early morning or after-hours deliveries when needed.
Operate standard material handling equipment such as liftgates and pallet jacks.
Must maintain responsive communication with dispatch (within 10 minutes of contact).
