Key Responsibilities
- Take full responsibility for the company’s customs clearance operations at KTW Airport, ensuring all import, export, transit, and related customs procedures are handled efficiently and in full compliance with Polish and EU customs regulations.
- Establish, manage, and continuously optimize the company’s local customs clearance processes and operating procedures.
- Apply for, obtain, and maintain relevant customs authorizations and qualifications, including but not limited to:
- Customs declaration and representation authorizations
- Approved Consignor / Approved Consignee
- Temporary Storage authorization
- Other customs permits, registrations, and authorizations required for airport cargo operations.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with Polish Customs Authorities, KTW Airport, cargo terminals, customs brokers, freight forwarders, and other logistics partners.
- Coordinate directly with customs authorities and cargo terminal operators to ensure smooth and timely cargo release.
- Independently handle and resolve customs-related issues, including customs inspections, documentation discrepancies, declaration issues, cargo holds, duties/taxes, and other clearance exceptions.
- Monitor changes in Polish and EU customs regulations and ensure the company’s operations remain fully compliant.
- Support the company in obtaining new customs qualifications and developing in-house customs clearance capabilities as the business grows.
- Work closely with internal logistics, warehouse, transportation, and supply chain teams to optimize clearance procedures, reduce cargo dwell time, and improve overall operational efficiency.
- Develop and maintain a strong local customs and airport logistics network to support the company’s long-term growth at KTW.
Requirements
- 5–6+ years of hands-on experience in customs clearance, cross-border logistics, airport cargo operations, or logistics management.
- Solid knowledge of Polish and EU customs regulations and clearance procedures.
- Proven hands-on customs clearance experience at KTW Airport is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of KTW Airport cargo terminal operations, local customs procedures, customs brokers, and related logistics service providers.
- Existing and well-established relationships with local customs authorities, cargo terminals, customs brokers, and logistics partners will be a significant advantage.
- Experience in applying for, obtaining, or maintaining customs authorizations and qualifications is highly preferred.
- Practical experience with import, export, transit, and temporary storage procedures.
- Strong communication, negotiation, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to independently manage customs clearance operations and resolve complex clearance issues.
- Fluent English is required; Polish language skills are a strong advantage.
- Willingness to work in a fast-growing startup environment and take ownership of building and developing the company’s local customs operations.
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for more than a standard customs clearance operator. The ideal candidate should be able to independently manage customs clearance operations at KTW Airport, leverage an established local network, support customs authorization applications, and help the company build its own long-term customs clearance capabilities in Poland.
Candidates with the following experience will have a strong advantage:
- Direct KTW Airport customs clearance experience
- Existing customs authorizations or relevant qualifications
- Established relationships with Polish Customs Authorities and KTW cargo terminals
- Strong local network among customs brokers and logistics providers
- Proven ability to resolve complex customs clearance and inspection issues
- Experience in setting up or improving customs clearance operations
- Strong knowledge of Polish and EU customs compliance
